Awards Ceremony Snyder Award: NSF International and NEHA are pleased to announce that Gary P. Noonan was selected as the 2011 Walter F. Snyder Award recipient for outstanding achievements in environmental health. Noonan received the award for his extensive work to improve drinking water quality, eliminate lead hazards, and develop respirator standards and emergency response plans. A. Harry Bliss Editor's Award: NEHA often gives the annual Bliss Award to outstanding writers, columnists, or other individuals who, through the Journal of Environmental Health (JEH), advance the cause and interests of the association. This year’s award was given to Dr. Brad Baugh, who has served as a reliable and efficient peer reviewer for the JEH for over eight years. Crumbine Award: The 2011 winner of the Samuel J. Crumbine Consumer Protection Award is Toronto Public Health, in Ontario, Canada. This prestigious award is given annually to local environmental health jurisdictions that demonstrate unsurpassed achievement in providing outstanding food protection services to their communities NEHA Excellence in Sustainability Award: The City of Coppell’s Eco Coppell initiative was awarded the 4th annual NEHA Excellence in Sustainability Award. This award recognizes any organization, business, association, individual, or NEHA member who is solving environmental challenges by using innovative and environmentally sustainable practices. This award is generously sponsored by Underwriters Laboratory, Inc. (UL). NEHA's 2011 Annual Educational Conference & Exhibition FDA Scholarship Recipients: NEHA received funding from FDA to provide 34 full conference registration scholarships and one student scholarship to attend NEHA's 2011 Annual Educational Conference (AEC) & Exhibition, June 18-20 in Columbus, Ohio. NEHA's 2011 Annual Educational Conference & Exhibition USDA/FSIS Scholarship Recipients: NEHA received funding from USDA/FSIS to provide full conference registration scholarships to seven attendees of the Epi-Ready: Foodborne Illness Response Strategies Team Training workshop to also attend NEHA's 2011 Annual Educational Conference (AEC) & Exhibition, June 18-20 in Columbus, Ohio. Recipients participated in the Epi-Ready pre-conference workshop as well as attended the full NEHA conference. Thank you FSIS for you support of NEHA and the Epi-Ready training initiative.
